“Let anyone among you who has no sin be the first to throw a stone at her”
(John 8: 7)
The Society of Sancta Maria Magdalena is a society of apostolic life. We are priests, brothers, sisters and laity who desire to follow after Christ God through the example He gave to us when He reached out to St. Mary Magdalene. The Pharisees expected Christ to condemn St. Mary Magdalene. Christ refused to condemn her but instead forgave her. Christ used her sorrow for her sins as a lesson to the Pharisees. Our Lord said to the Pharisees: “Let anyone among you who has no sin be the first to throw a stone at her” (John 8: 7). One-by-one they dropped their stones and walked away.
The power of divine love and mercy far surpasses any sins that we have committed in our lives. The priests, brothers, sisters and laity of the Society of Sancta Maria Magdalena seek out the lost sheep, those ostracized by the world, the brokenhearted, etc., and show to them that Christ is the Lover of Mankind and the Divine Physician of our souls.
Our prayer life is centered on the Divine Liturgy of St. Gregory the Theologian, the Divine Office and other devotions particular to our charism. We are a society of apostolic life living out the Western Orthodox Christian Faith in our everyday lives.
If you are looking to become a priest, brother or sister and want to seek out the forgotten in society we encourage you to contact us.
If you are a layperson seeking to live our spirituality as a secular member contact us.
If you are looking for priests that will show you the love of God under the patroness of St. Mary Magdalene come and see.
"Then Jesus stood up and said to her,
'Woman, where are they?' 'Has no one condemned you?' She replied, 'No one.'
And Jesus said, 'Neither do I condemn you; go away and don't sin again'"
(John 8: 10-11)
Prayers to St. Mary Magdalene
Troparion of the Byzantine Liturgy
By keeping His commandments and laws, holy Mary Magdalene, you followed Christ, Who for our sake was born of the Virgin, and in celebrating your most holy memory today, we receive forgiveness of sins by your prayers.
Standing before the Cross of the Savior, Suffering with the Mother of the Lord, The most glorious Mary Magdalene offered praise with tears. She cried out: What is this strange wonder? He who holds the whole creation in His hand chooses to suffer: Glory, O Lord to Your power!
